You know you're a web designer if...
Here are a few situations I found my self in that got me thinking how influenced am I from the whole web design business. Important to mention that all of the below situations really happened to me – no kidding.
You know you’re a web designer if…
- If you hope that IE6 will soon be extinct, then you're definitely a web designer.
I have a feeling we're all on the same side here.
- If you make a mistake in real life and mentally press Command/Ctrl+Z, then you're a web designer.
This happens to me quite often and I find it pretty sad.
- If you get mad at your friend for not using Firefox, then you're a web designer.
- If you love simplicity, then you're more likely an experienced web designer.
Simplicity is a really common term in today's web design community.
- If you get designer blocks, then you're obviously a web designer.
- If you have hard time explaining your newbie friends how to use Photoshop without mentioning keyboard shortcuts, then you're a web designer.
- If you hate printed material using Times New Roman and/or Comic Sans fonts, then you're a web designer.
My brother keeps doing that for his school projects. I make him to go back to change it.
- If you find it funny to hand in a school essay to your teacher with the "Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet" text just for the joke's sake, then you're a web designer.
I'm serious, I almost did it.
- If you find the one inspiration you were looking for, and you get mad thinking your ideas were taken, then you're a web designer.
I know it happened to most of you, don't lie.
- If you wish there was Copy & Paste in real life, then you're a web designer.
- If you judge a book or a magazine by its cover, then you're a web or graphic designer.
Ye I know, don't judge a book by its cover, well... screw that!
- If you get asked by your friends to criticize websites, then you're a web designer.
- If you start to analyze special effects in posters, ads or photos, then you're a web or graphic designer.
That makes me feel like a complete nerd.
- If you start naming fonts of store’s titles in the mall, then you're a web designer.
That too.
- If you go Mac and never want to go back, then you might be a web designer and a snob (according to this).
I heard quite a few stories of people changing to Mac from a PC and never wanting so see windows ever again.
- If you write your study notes as if they were website's typography, then you're a web designer.
That's actually really good, keeps me well organized.
- And if you write a post about ways to know if you're a web designer or not, then you might be a little bored... oh, and web designer.

I loved a lot of your points, and here\'s a few I\'d add in:
- if you take a look at your uni\'s crappy website and say \"they\'re so 1990s\", you\'re a web designer.
- if the ideal world, according to you, is a standards-compliant, CSS3-toting place where everyone has fast internet, the latest browser and software, just so that they can browse modern websites, you\'re a designer.
- if you look at tutorials on using Terminal and say \"but I\'m a designer, not a code ninja\", you\'re a designer.
And regarding the Mac switchers, I\'m certainly one of them - I was a Mac evangelist in my school and family even before I bought a Mac. When I did (in Dec 2008), I loved it totally - the few flaws on a Mac are negligible compared to the headaches on Windows. As a designer, you\'d be most productive, when you can work without thinking of fixing stuff around the OS all the time.

Howabout - if you recognise and curse people using default photoshop brushes in mainstreem advertising, and you can recognise non-default brushes and name the site that gives them away.

I've never wanted "Copy" and/or "Paste" in real life, but I have wanted "Save" many times.
Oh and people who "go to Mac and never want to go back" aren't necessarily web designers - they're probably just Mac users who were so stupid that they couldn't even work out that they were Mac users ;) Ah sorry couldn't resist! :)
